Chutney Powder

This powder is an accompaniment for Idlis, Dosas and Uthappams!!  Enhances the main dishes with the added flavour and great taste!
Keeps fresh and has a good shelf life –

Ingredients

1 Tbs Mustard Seeds
¼ Cup Channa Dal
¼ Cup Urad Dal
8-10 Dry Red Chillies
6 Tbs Sesame Seeds (white or black)
1 Tbs Oil
1-2 Tsp Salt

1 Tsp Sugar or Jaggery (optional)

Preparation

Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds
When it crackles, add the channa and urad dal and the red chillies
Fry on a medium flame until the dals turn light golden brown
Add the sesame seeds and saute for a minute ot so

Cool and grind the above into a slightly coarse powder (the sugar or jaggery may be added if the powder is very spicy)

Note:  Add a tablespoon of oil to a couple of teaspoons of the chutney powder, which is had as an accompaniment with Idlis and dosas.
This can be bottled in an air tight container for future use.

    I tried the above recipe – I thought sesame seeds gives such a nice flavour to it. I liked how it takes so less time to make. Great accompaniment for idlis and dosas!
