Peas Butter Masala

Fresh Peas are  found in plenty  as it is spring in Australia!
There was a bag full of fresh peas in the fridge bought from the produce market last week!  Hence I thought of preparing this awesome dish!

Peas are considered to be one of the most nutritious vegetable and low in calories.
Although frozen and canned peas are easier to use, consuming fresh peas whenever possible is a better option as the key vitamins such as
Vitamin C, B1, B2, B3 and B6 will be more in fresh peas than frozen or canned!!

Ingredients

1 Cup of Fresh or Frozen Green Peas
1/4 Cup Fresh Plain Yoghurtt
1 Tbs Butter

1 Large Onion (Finely Chopped)
2 Cloves Peeled Garlic
1 Inch Piece Fresh Ginger (finely grated or chopped)
2 Tomatoes (Finely Chopped)
200 gms Tomato Paste
1/4 Cup of Water
3 Tbs Oil
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Pinch of Turmeric Powder
1-2 Tsp Garamasala Powder
1-2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
2 Tsp Coriander Powder
1-2 Tsp Salt
Fresh and finely chopped coriander leaves

Preparation

Cook the peas in the microwave oven for 4-5 minutes and keep aside
Heat the oil in the pan
Add the cumin seeds and turmeric powder
The chopped onion, ginger, garlic should be added and sauteed for about 2-3 minutes till the onion is soft.
Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste and fry for a further 3-4 minutes on a medium flame
The garamasala, red chilli powder, coriander powder, yoghurt and salt should be added
Stir through the cooked peas and add the butter
Let it simmer on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes
Garnish it with chopped fresh coriander leaves

The Peas Butter masala is ready to served
Note: Tastes great with rotis, puris and plain cooked fragrant rice!!
